“Slow and steady…”

First and foremost, I would like to give credit to Rudall30 of Shutterstock for making the awesome stock photo of a horseback knight that I decided to choose as the featured picture for this blog post. I chose it over others because, if you look closely at the castle in the background, that’s the same castle that was used as the model for the original book cover of A Lord’s Treasure. I am also well-aware that it has the Shutterstock watermarks since I currently do not wish to pay to have the watermarks removed, etc., so please don’t pick on me over that.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a year since I made my first blog post for the website, and because I have neglected making content for the site for over a year, I thought I would do some much needed TLC and to let y’all know that I have not fallen off the face of the planet. I realized that I have remained too quiet for too long on this website (author-davidlongworth.com) and my public Twitter account even though I have been doing my best to distance myself from social media after I realized how bad social media is for one’s mental health.

Despite what all is going on with my life nowadays (before the COVID-19 Pandemic), I have been getting some writing done for another indie project every now and then.

*SPOILER ALERT START* If before now you read A Lord’s Treasure (ALT), the first volume of my A King’s Wisdom Medieval Fantasy series, then you most likely noticed that the final chapter of that story ends on a cliffhanger; I have slowly but surely been working on the follow-up that I have publicly nicknamed “AKW2” until I decide to reveal the official title sooner or later. I plan for “AKW2” to be at least twice to five times as long as A Lord’s Treasure since I am planning for that volume to hopefully conclude the series, but so far I have less than 11,000 words of unedited material, which is about half of ALT. Would it be acceptable for me to post a raw chapter as a sample chapter sometime like some other authors do? *SPOILER ALERT END*

I’ve been taking my time on finishing my latest project because I personally want to put out high quality work, and I feel like I rushed with A Lord’s Treasure. I have read all the feedback on ALT thus far and keep it in mind while working on my current project in the works. I’m hoping that I can push myself to at least finishing the raw manuscript before editing and release before the end of this currently chaotic year. I have not hired anyone to do any artwork or anything like that yet since it’s nowhere nearly done; in fact, I have never even tried to get a contract with a publisher since I’m currently planning to keep my literary work self-published at the moment for independence.

If you have read this far into this long blog post, then you are absolutely awesome. Have a great day, and don’t hesitate to contact me with any feedback, tips, or questions.

Sincerely

David Longworth
